We invite you to use these free resources for your youth ministry meetings. They are proven ministry tools that Pastor Jonathan Cook has developed. Pastor Jonathan has been involved with youth ministry for almost 15 years. The last 10 years have been spent at Trinity Church International (TCI) in Lake Worth, Florida. While at TCI, Jonathan has seen the youth ministry grow from a handful of students to hundreds being ministered to every week in the local church as well as in local schools. Jonathan has a passion to influence culture with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through mentoring and equipping believers to fulfill their God given purpose. Jonathan and family; wife of 9 years Elishya and daughters Jenna (age 6) and Avah (age 3), shown in the photograph to the left, recently founded “710 Global,” a ministry with the purpose of influencing culture for Christ through the training and sending of leaders into all facets of society. Two of Jonathan’s favorite hobbies are playing/watching sports and spending time hanging out with his family.
The files below are taken from Pastor Jonathan’s teaching and preaching. They are designed for use as teaching/preaching outlines for those who minister to young people. Do not hesitate to let Pastor Jonathan or Dr. Bob know how you are doing, and if there is a particular subject we can help you with.
CANDY COVERED HAND GRENADES
Most of us love candy. Teenagers especially love it. Candy is designed to taste really great and often times to “look” really great. Have you ever bitten into a piece of candy or chocolate that looked wonderful on the outside, but when you bit into it, tasted disgusting? In this series we are talking not about something that could just taste bad when you bite into it, but something that could actually kill you (hand grenades). Bitterness and/or unforgiveness are like “candy covered hand grenades.” We sometimes allow bitterness and unforgiveness to creep into our hearts and they “look” and “taste” good at first, but before we realize it we have swallowed something that is waiting to explode in our stomach and destroy us. Thus, “candy covered hand grenades” may look appetizing, but they are deadly.Throughout this series our goal is to help students understand the destructive nature of bitterness and unforgiveness and give them the tools to understand how to avoid them in their lives.
