I would like you to consider what a trip on an airplane would be like if you had to fly with your check-in luggage on your lap instead of it being stored in the bottom of the airplane? Can you imagine the discomfort? There would be this crushing weight constantly on you. You could not even find room to fold down your tray table. You would have a particularly difficult time if you had to get up in the middle of the flight to let the person next to you out of his or her seat. Then, imagine trying to get off the plane with a hundred and fifty others who were carrying their luggage too. Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV) says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. {29} “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. {30} “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Flying already has its discomforts. With luggage was on your lap, flying would be so uncomfortable that it would become an impossibility. Can you relate this to trying to go through life with the heaviness Hebrews 12:1 says can “so easily ensnares you.” We all take too much baggage, emotional and spiritual, with us through life. What has weighted you down that you know you could give to Jesus? Be honest and transparent with your answer. Trade your heavy baggage for something far lighter. Let Jesus have your baggage and He will give you something far lighter to carry. In fact, He will be your traveling companion and the journey will be a blessing.

What it is that you have been seeing? Your answer could be that you see the obvious facts of what is going on all around you. I invite you to look beyond what you have been seeing with your eyes. Look through the lens of faith. If you will, your faith will show you that a great many things you held to be facts are subject to change. This is because faith sees beyond the natural circumstances into the supernatural potential held within God’s provision, presence and promises. When you use your faith lens to see with the eyes of faith, you will see that the natural facts are subject to change. This is because faith sees the potential held within God’s provision, presence and promises. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NIV) teaches us that, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. {18} So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” Now, listen to Hebrews 11:1, in the (NLT). “What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.” If you will train your eyes to see the realities of your highly favored standing with God, you will see what you have not allowed yourself to see. I’m Dr. Bob. You will see that God is for you, and He is providing something far better than what you have been seeing. Now, listen with your spiritual ears to additional Mentoring Minutes at www.mentoringministry.com.

I want to make it perfectly clear that God will go far beyond breaking or simply removing whatever has you bound. He will utterly destroy it! Isaiah 10:27 (NKJV) assures us of this. Isaiah, speaking for the Lord, said, “It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” In Psalm 91:14-16, God says, “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. {15} He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. {16} With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”

With those words in mind, take your worship, combine it with God’s promises and reap your blessings. One thing I know about God’s power is this.God will not stop with breaking or temporarily removing your problem. He will utterly destroy it… forever. My advice is to start worshiping as you embrace these promises for your situation. Then, when He completely crushes and destroys what has you in bondage, start shouting. I’m Dr. Bob. That is the truth and it will set you free. You can listen to additional Mentoring Minutes at www.mentoringministry.com.

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a mentoring Minute, I want to ask you what it is that people see in you? Do they see a person filled with insecurity and self-protective tendencies that darken and hide what is really inside? Or, do they see someone filled with light and transparency? Darkness can signify many things. It can mean insecurity and failure to understand that the God of light lives in us. Darkness in us can also mean a desire to hide the reality of a hidden sin. Is your life transparent because you are a son or daughter of light? The Bible says, in 1 John 1:5 (NKJV) that, “…God is light and in Him there is no darkness.” 1 Thessalonians 5:4-5 (NKJV) says, “But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. {5} You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.”

It is often tempting to allow deception and darkness to have a home to inside your heart. The beautiful thing about the new birth in Christ is that you are now a son or daughter of light and transparency. Be what God says you are. When people look at you, all they will see is the winner and champion you really are… a son or daughter of the light. There will be nothing dark manipulating or clouding their vision.

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to ask what it is that consumes your thinking? Are you consumed by your problems or disappointments? Do you spend a great amount of time thinking about what might have been or should have been? Do the challenges of daily life cause you to worry and dwell upon what might happen if things do not change? Are you so consumed by these and similar thoughts that your emotions seem to control your days? And… have you hoped and even prayed for something to change? Let me suggest a remedy. Start choosing to allow your thinking to be directed to the opportunities that lay within every potential problem you face. Look at these potential problems as situations that carry within them the seeds of great victory. If you do, you will destroy your problems’ ability to capture your heart and emotions. Then, you will be free to focus on the opportunities, and move ahead, captivated only by faith that God will do for you and in you, all that His Word promises. I strongly encourage you to embrace His promises and watch Him take you to your blessings. I’m Dr. Bob. The people will be waiting. Let them on. Let them off. Just focus on the task to which God has called you. Yes, there will be times when you are stopped by a red light. Just relax and wait for the green. It will surely come. When it does, just drive the bus. There will be other times when it seems you are stuck in a traffic jam and cannot move. Just relax and wait for things to clear up. You will get to your destination and will help many others do the same. I’m Dr. Bob.

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a mentoring minute, I want to ask if you ever have that sinking feeling? If so, you may need to lighten your load. Are you ready and willing to do so? I am reminded of the lesson from Acts, Chapter 27, when the Apostle Paul was shipwrecked. When the ship was sinking in the storm, sailors threw stuff overboard. They knew that if the ship was burdened with too much stuff, it was destined to sink. It is a timeless lesson. What stuff are you carrying around in your heart that gives you that sinking feeling? It can be like an anchor chained to your soul. Here is the good news. It is not too late to surrender it to God. Give it to Him and trust Him to carry the burdens for you. In Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV) Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. {29} Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. {30} For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” If you will make the exchange today, you will feel like your load is so light that you can walk on the water all the way to your destiny. I’m Dr. Bob. Contact me at www.mentoringministry.com and let me know how it feels to be free of that sinking feeling.

I’m Dr. Bob and I want to ask if you have ever enjoyed a nicely ripened Golden Delicious apple? I find apples to be tasty and satisfying, especially when I have one of those mid-afternoon cravings for something special. Now I normally like chocolate, but there are times when nothing but a good apple will do. Have you heard it said, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away?” Well, how about this? “An apple a day keeps the devil away.” Let me explain. Proverbs 25:11 (NKJV) says, “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.” Psalms 34:8 (NKJV) says, “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” I highly recommend you make it your habit to speak God’s Word in response to any situation in which you find yourself. When God’s Word is ‘fitly spoken,” you can trust what you say to fit the situation. It will be a golden apple that keeps the devil away! Yes, today would be a good day to taste the goodness of the Lord, as you watch Him respond to what you say. After all, you are simply saying what He said. He will surely honor His Word. It is always solid gold. I’m Dr. Bob. Contact me at www.mentoringministry.com and let me know what you think.

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a mentoring minute I want to ask you the question, What about tomorrow? Does thinking of tomorrow cause you to worry? Matthew 6:34 tells us not to worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will take care of itself. If you spend your time worrying about tomorrow you may fail to realize your opportunities for today. If you embrace your opportunities for your todays, they will become the stepping-stones upon which you will walk into many victorious, joy-filled tomorrows. This would be an excellent opportunity to remind yourself that God is at work in your life today… and He will be there for you tomorrow. Here is the point. Do something with today’s blessings, so you can expect more of them tomorrow. Encourage a friend with these thoughts. I’m Dr. Bob.
