Here it is. In any situation you face, it is never really about your strength or weakness, but about the strength of God. Multiple times in the Bible, the Word tells us to be “Be strong and of good courage…” My pastor, Dr. Tom Peters also says, “Courage is the muscle that makes your faith work. It activates your set of beliefs.” That is worth thinking about. In Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV) says “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 7:21 (NKJV), says, “You shall not be terrified of them; for the LORD your God, the great and awesome God, is among you.

Dr. Peters also said, “God is greater than anything you will face this year.” We can take this to heart because God is not only with us by the presence of the Holy Spirit, but He is still on His throne of omnipotent stewardship of our lives. This is a constant condition in heaven. It continually operates in the believer’s life. Here is one more thing. In the previous Mentoring Minute, I quoted Dr. Peters as saying, “Courage is not the absence of fear. It is the conquest of it. Courage may mean doing it afraid – until you’re no longer afraid.” Well, it is worth repeating.

Here is some wisdom from my pastor, Dr. Tom Peters. His words can be a tremendous encouragement in the face of trouble. He said, “Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the conquest of it. Courage may mean doing it afraid – until you’re no longer afraid.” This profound piece of guidance can become a standard for your life. Just trust the Lord and wade into your fears. I know this seems beyond what you think your emotions may allow. However, your big Brother Jesus will wade in with you. This may not seem to be sufficient for your emotions to accept. However, it certainly will work for every situation you face. If you need another boost in your courage, remember the assurance Jesus gave His disciples, concerning what could be possible. Matthew 19:26 (NKJV) says, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” It comes down to a simple exercise of your faith that says, “This is too big for me, but with God, all things are possible and nothing is impossible.”

It is true that it may appear to be impossible for you to step into troubled waters on your own. I recommend that instead of stepping into them; try stepping onto them – with your eyes fixed on Jesus. You will walk on the waters of your trouble, as your faith becomes the bridge to your victory. I’m Dr. Bob. Become the winner and champion for Jesus that God has enabled you to be.

Here is an account of something amazing that happened many years ago in our church in the Fiji Islands. It was in a Sunday service that the Lord gave me a word of wisdom, which I spoke to the congregation. It was a specific warning that someone was to be careful not to put his or her hand inside a piece of machinery. It would be a dangerous thing to do. There was a young woman attending services that day, who heard the warning. She later testified that this word of wisdom came at such a timely moment. She said she worked in a print shop and the next morning, she was operating a large printing press when it became jammed. As she put her hand in the press to release the mechanism, she remembered the word of wisdom. She quickly pulled her hand back. At that very moment, the printing press cleared itself and came crashing down where her hand had been just a moment earlier. It would have crushed it. Psalms 18:30 (NKJV) says, “As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.”

Our circumstances, desires and others’ expectations can press upon us greatly, bring potentially damaging pressure. In addition, there is always the press of temptation. I’m Dr. Bob. Keep your hands, and your thoughts, out of the press. Instead, place them safely in God’s grip. That’s what I call pressing advice to eliminate the press of life. So, here is the question. Have you neglected to heed what God has spoken to you, whether through a spiritual gift of someone else or in your private moments with the Lord? Think carefully. Then reflect on any adjustments you need to make. You can listen to additional Mentoring Minutes at www.mentoringminutes.com.

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to remind you that there is nothing too difficult for God. Jesus said it and that is enough for me. Regardless of the particular situation you may find yourself in, with God, all things are possible. In Mark, Chapter 10, when Jesus said it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to be saved (Verse 24), the disciples were astonished. Mark 10:27 (NKJV) records Jesus’ answer for their confusion and lack of understanding. He said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.” The importance of this exchange between Jesus and His disciples goes far beyond the issue of the moment, which was how a sinner could be saved, rich or poor. Jesus’ words underscored the principle of divine omnipotence, which states that God has the power to do anything He desires. He can even make of no consequence the rules of nature. After all, He established them. By His power, He now maintains them, and can even change them. That is what we call a miracle. The lesson here is that no matter how big and threatening your situation may be, God is bigger. He is the God who makes impossibilities possible. Never doubt that He is always well able to do so… and because He loves you, He desires to do so. I’m Dr. Bob. You can listen to additional Mentoring Minutes at www.mentoringministry.com/blogs.

<itunes:summary>I'm Dr.

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to speak about those times when you find yourself totally in the dark, without a clue about what is coming next. This will be the case when trouble comes and you have no answer for it. However, it can also be true when opportunity shows itself to you. Life will bring both kinds of circumstance. I am reminded of young King Solomon’s reply when God invited him to ask anything. Solomon asked for wisdom. 1 Kings 4:29 (NKJV) says, “And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore.” It is unfortunate that Solomon soon forgot to use what he asked for.

When you find yourself in the dark, without any answers, the Holy Spirit is the one completely dependable source to whom you can turn. Ask for wisdom and understanding. He will provide it and you can proceed with confidence. Make Him your companion through all the journeys of your life. He will show you the truths you need and illuminate the paths you travel. With the Holy Spirit as your guide, you can expect the journey will be just as He says it will be. I strongly encourage you to let total dependence on God find its way into your life. You will move ahead in the light of His glory, because you chose to walk a path of obedience and faith. Then, you will see His glory released, as He leads and guides you to your destiny. Finally, you will gain the opportunity to let His glory be seen by others, because your fruitfulness will demonstrate His faithfulness. I’m Dr. Bob. Ask yourself how diligent you are to include the Holy Spirit in your daily walk through life. What could you change to allow more of His wisdom and understanding to influence you? You can listen to additional Mentoring Minutes at www.mentoringministry.com.

Many choose to walk in dark shadows, trying to conceal their sins, compromise and deliberate foolishness. To do so may seem attractive at the moment. It may bring feelings that temporarily mask the true nature of the coming consequences. However, the day inevitably arrives when poor choices cast their shadows, bringing darkness and perhaps even the shadow of death. Luke 1:79 records Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist, prophesying of his over his newborn son’s purpose, which would be to announce the Savior’s mission, to bring light to a darkened world. He said, “To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” My advice is to get out from under, and stay out of those carnal and even demonic shadows that abound throughout our fallen world. Refuse to allow them to hover over you. Then, run under the shadow of the Almighty. It is a secret place reserved just for you. It is place of refuge and safety. There, God will be with you and cover you with an awesome display of His saving grace, protection and power. If you want to understand this better, read Psalm 91. It’s my favorite! Here is a final thought. A dark, shadowy path is dangerous, even when it seems right. Proverbs 14:12 and 16:25 say, “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. Head for the light. Amazingly, you will find it under “the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1). I do not know how to explain this. I simply know it’s true. What shadows might shadows1).ht. Amazingly, you will find it under the shadow of the Amighty. I do not know how to explain this. I simply kno be hovering over you?

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I would like to clarify an absolute truth… about truth. Too often, we pursue those things we call truth in an attempt to bring us immediate relief or perhaps temporary release. The truth is… only the truth you find in God’s Word is completely reliable and fully effective, always and in all ways! In John 8:32 (NKJV), Jesus said, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” Then, in John 14:6 (NKJV), He said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.”

Pursuing the truth, that you can only find in God’s Word, has an even more significant meaning. Think about this. When you trust in and rely completely on God’s unfailing truth, it will not only set you free, but will keep you free. Why? Because Jesus Christ is truth and His Word is a reflection of Him. Complete freedom comes from pursuing a personal, trusting relationship with Him. Pursue Him with all your heart. It will bring you the freedom to find His favor. Then, His favor will bring opportunity. Opportunity will bring success, significance and ultimately, a satisfying and Christ-filled destiny. I’m Dr. Bob and that is the absolute truth.

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to share with you something Rear Admiral Barry Black, the Chaplain of the United States Senate said. Listen carefully. He said, “Sin is an equal opportunity destroyer.” My wife Nancy has a simple saying about sin. She says, “Sin hates you.” Those are both as simple and truthful as it gets. Romans 7:24 (NKJV) says, “O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?” John 8:36 (NKJV) says, “He who the Son sets free is free indeed.”

Sin will take every opportunity to destroy you. The only remedy is to make Jesus Christ your Personal Savior. Then, you must become His follower on a daily basis. This means He is not only your Savior, but also your Lord. You will be required to exercise faith in Him and the direction He provides for your life every day. The principle is twofold. First, you will never be immune from sin unless you have been inoculated with faith in Christ… and, second, you must act accordingly. There is no other way to secure and retain victory over the sin that hates you. I’m Dr. Bob. Take this good news to heart. Let it define your life. Then, share it with someone else.

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute I want to speak to you about the way God responds to your prayers. God has a unique, miraculously effective system that He puts into divine motion the very second you make your prayer request known to Him. Let me give you an example from Genesis 22. As Abraham began to climb up one side of the Mountain, his son Isaac questioned where the sacrifice would come from. In Genesis 22:8, it is recorded that Abraham replied that God would provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering. Then, Genesis 22:13-14 (NKJV) says this. “Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. {14} And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of The LORD it shall be provided.”” Make no mistake about the faithfulness of God. As Isaac was asking Abraham where the sacrifice would come from, God ordained a ram to climb up the other side of the mountain. Here is the point. When you have no idea how God’s provision will even be possible, just let your faith keep you climbing your particular mountain. You will find that your need meets God’s provision at the point of your obedience. I’m Dr. Bob, and that’s a principle for every prayer at any time and anywhere.
