A Brief Study on Prayer – Is It a Two-Sided Coin?

This is a brief study on prayer that may help you answer the question, “What’s my part in getting my prayers answered?

The Safe Deposit Box of Prayer

I Heard Dr. David Jeremiah give the illustration that prayer is like the key to a safe deposit box in a bank. (more…)

A Faithful System

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute I want to speak to you about the way God responds to your prayers. God has a unique, miraculously effective system that He puts into divine motion the very second you make your prayer request known to Him. Let me give you an example from Genesis 22. As Abraham began to climb up one side of the Mountain, his son Isaac questioned where the sacrifice would come from. (more…)

Many Voices

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to assure you that in the midst of each of your personal challenges, you may hear many voices. These can come in the form of reasonable, well-meaning suggestions. However, they may also be harsh, uncaring criticisms and even hope-stealing words of condemnation. Whether well intentioned or not, these voices can become the source of confusion and instability. The question you must always ask yourself is to what voice will you choose to listen? John 10:27 (NKJV) says, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” Romans 8:14 (NLT) says, “For all who are led by the Spirit of God, are children of God.” When you restrict your listening to those voices that strictly adhere to and agree with the voice of the Lord, you will be secure in the outcomes of your choices. God’s voice is always the voice of promise. All His promises are true. He will not, and indeed, cannot lie. Each promise from God carries a blessing. I’m Dr. Bob. Be led by God’s voice. You will be a winner and champion. You will walk in your blessings, and your testimony will be awesome. That’s a Mentoring Minute coming from the sound of my voice, but I believe God is in it. I think you will find it worth hearing and responding to. You can listen to additional Mentoring Minutes at www.mentoringministry.com/blogs.

Increase

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to encourage you that if you want to bring increase to your prayer life, bring increase to your faith life. This means you deliberately confess who God is and what He has done for you. Do this in two specific ways. First, get in the habit of beginning all your prayer times by giving God your verbal praise. Tell Him you know He is who His Word says He is. Then tell Him that you know He will do what His Word promises. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV) says, “Rejoice always, {17} pray without ceasing; {18} in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Resist the temptation to ask God for anything until you clearly sense the anointing fall. Only after you get this breakthrough should you make your requests. Why? Because what you have done is to speak aloud the things that extol Him, while building your faith. Make this your habit. Include deliberate praise for Him in your day, all day long. Consider Him your partner each day. Thank Him constantly for His supernatural intervention in your daily experiences and activities… even the smallest ones. Your conversations with Him then become faith-building prayers without ceasing. I’m Dr. Bob and that is a Mentoring Minute worth putting into daily practiced.
