When We Get Hurt
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to speak to you about when we get hurt, disappointed, or frustrated. Many times when this happens, we try to lower our expectations to fit our experiences. This is because we fail to understand the potential within the problem. It all depends on how you look at it. You can take the negative point of view, or, if you truly believe in God, you can see what looks like a problem as a waiting opportunity. Think of yourself as an answer to someone’s question and a solution to someone’s problem. Think of how you can turn your problem into someone else’s possibilities for great blessings. Well, I just shared a secret for success with you. God called you and created you to be the catalyst for someone else’s success and perhaps even their salvation. Never loose sight of the truth that in Christ, “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” That’s Romans 8:28 (NKJV). Oh, one more thing, the Apostle Paul said it best when he wrote, in Philippians 4:13 (NKJV), “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Oh yes you can! I’m Dr. Bob. Take hold of God’s Word as you take a positive approach to your opportunities… and even those that have looked like such negatives. Choices are the Hinges of Your Destiny
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to share some thoughts I have regarding something my pastor, Dr. Tom Peters recently said. Listen carefully. He said, “Choices are the hinges of your destiny.” When I heard this, the Holy Spirit immediately spoke to me. He burned the words that Dr. Peters spoke deeply into my heart. It was clear, and it was powerful. Think about it. The choices you make will be the hinges of your destiny. Let this truth speak to you. Let it encourage you. God has an amazing future for you that is full of amazing blessings. Like many of God’s blessings, those you can receive may be conditional. There is likely to be a big “IF” attached to them. “IF” you will make right choices, chief among which, in my opinion is to do as Jesus said in Luke 9:23 – to choose to deny yourself, take up your cross daily and follow Him. When you do, amazing things beyond what you could hope for or dream of will chase you down and bless you. I assure you, these amazing things hinge on the choices you make. Now, don’t try to argue with this powerful truth. You can argue about many things, but there are two with which you can never argue. First, never argue with a man’s experience and second, never argue with the Word of God. I’m Dr. Bob. What I just shared comes from both what I have personally experienced and from what God declared in His Word. So… make the right choice. Be an uncompromising, determined Luke 9:23 Christian. Let Them Breathe Into Your Dream
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to share the secret that makes dreams come true. I bet that just caught your attention. This is an interesting secret because God designed it to be revealed, not concealed. Here it is. Be faithful and grateful for, and to the people God provides to watch for your soul. They are precious gifts to you. When the time is right, share your dream with them. Then, ask them to breathe life into your dream through the wisdom and the connections they possess. Help from those who have watched for your soul will open doors you could neither recognize nor open. These precious people just might be the ones God has already appointed to facilitate your dreams into becoming reality. Here is another thing. Be sure to remember and honor them in the years that follow. In that great day when the Lord hands you what you have been dreaming about, go to them and tell them how much they meant to you. Then, take advantage of the opportunities you have to acknowledge these people publicly to others. Now for a final thought that must not be separated from my pervious ones. As you honor those that watched for your soul, give glory to your heavenly Father who provided them for you… and who made your dream become reality. I’m Dr. Bob. That’s a Mentoring Minute that speaks of how dreams come true. You can listen to others I have provided on my website by going to www.mentoringministry.com/blogs.

Man Overboard!
I’m Dr. Bob, and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to call your attention to a biblical case of “man overboard.” Of course, I am referring to Peter. He had a reputation of impulsively going overboard on many occasions. At times, as in the case of cutting off the ear of the high priest’s servant, he went “overboard” in a negative way. However, there is one occasion when Peter went overboard that is worthy of our imitation. I am speaking, of course, about when he saw the resurrected Christ preparing a meal on the shore. Peter was so excited, he could not wait to get to Jesus. Up he jumped and then, with a splash, in he jumped, swimming joyfully from the boat to the shore. John 18:10a (NKJV) says, “Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear…” It would be wonderful if we could feel the same excitement every time we gather to have communion with Christ. Next time you gather with others for communion, remember Peter. Tell yourself, “Man (or “Woman”) overboard – that’s me!” Here’s the point. As you worship with others in communion with Christ, let yourself go. Jump in and honor Christ with everything you have. He will be pleased to touch your heart. . I’m Dr. Bob. I have been a “man overboard” for years. I highly recommend it to you. You can listen to my previous Mentoring Minutes at www.mentoringministry.com/blogs.

Revelation, Inspiration, Activation
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to share an interesting thought. Why don’t you pray and ask God to make this season of your life one of revelation, inspiration and activation. He loves to answer this particular prayer. What you are asking is that He would open your spiritual ears to something fresh from the throne. Then what you hear will carry within it the inspiration to fill you with a fresh zeal and determination for the things of God. Finally, He will activate within you the power to do what has inspired you. Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” As you listen to these words, let the Holy Spirit rekindle that special fire within you that characterized your beginning walk with God. Fan the flames of zeal for the Lord of Hosts. This can be your earth shaking, devil-breaking season. God will make the way and you will make the difference. Go ahead, become the devil’s worst nightmare. You can, you know. You are fully capable, because you “can do all things through Christ.” Remember, “all” means all, everything and anything that pleases the Father. Running With Purpose
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute I want to assure you that I have come to understand that fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives will be the ultimate test of our significance, and in the end, the only thing that will give us satisfaction. The Apostle Paul understood this. His Christian walk was filled with challenges and great difficulties. He ended his life, writing in a Roman prison awaiting his execution. Yet, in Second Timothy 4:7, he wrote these amazing words for us to read. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Paul’s words reveal three principles for us. First, fight a good fight. The course of Paul’s service to the Lord was purposeful, righteous and well pleasing to God. Second, like Paul, embrace the joy of your salvation, and make a fruitful, eternal difference. Third, keep the faith. Never allow doubt or unbelief to alter your course. Paul remained faithful to the finish, always cherishing his call from the Lord and his responsibility to fulfill it. His faithfulness to God was absolute, in spite of all the difficulties he faced. You imagine how, as he crossed his personal finish line, he must have longed for God’s embrace… and he got it! Take heart. Regardless of how you started, you can finish like Paul, in the approving, loving embrace of God. Then, you will hear the Lord say, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Your devotion and service have given Me great joy. Enter into my loving rest.” Now that is an encouraging Mentoring Minute. You can listen to my previous Mentoring Minutes at www.mentoringminutes.com/blog. I know they will help you to fight the good fight of faith.

Flying Under the Radar
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to suggest to you that it is good to stay under the radar. Let me explain. When I think about staying under the devil’s radar, I am reminded of how a fighter jet escapes harm by flying under the enemy’s radar. It eludes the missiles that radar would direct toward it and flies safely on its way. The best way I know to do this is to check the level of your pride every day. Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV) teaches us that “Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.” You see, pride is like a signal that attracts the devil’s radar. If your pride is rising, it will lift Satan’s sights and center them upon you. Then, boom, he’s got you! I’m Dr. Bob. I strongly suggest you let humility keep you flying low. It will be a safe place from which effectively to attack the enemy. You can listen to my previous Mentoring Minutes at www.mentoringministry.com/blogs.

Go Where Anything is Possible
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to ask if you are headed in the right direction? Or, are you going where only disappointment and discouragement await you, perhaps even failure? When you look ahead, do you see yourself headed for mediocrity and fruitlessness? Well, why don’t you pick a new direction and walk into your destiny. Go where anything is possible. Go where God says you can go and do what He says you can do. When you make possibilities your destination, you can be sure that you can get there, because with God, all things are possible, and nothing is impossible. In today’s world, that is better assurance than a bucket of gold or a stack of silver. In fact, trusting God for His wisdom for the journey is invaluable because it is like “apples of gold in settings of silver.” The difference-maker is that it is God’s gold and His silver. It never tarnishes or devalues because it is divinely sourced and full of His wisdom. It is timeless and without price. I’m Dr. Bob. Simply Because…
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to ask you this question. Have you looked past your problems lately and focused on your blessings? I would like to remind you that God has blessed you simply because He can, and is motivated to do so simply because… He loves you. Furthermore, you have an eternal destiny simply because… Jesus died for you on the cross. Why have I written this for you to read? Simply because… I have been thinking about all these things as they apply to my own life, and I am grateful that I could bring them up to you. Let’s face it; God thinks you are somebody special. As a result, He has poured out His grace and loving concern upon you. Now, you have a life filled with the power of opportunity. All this happened simply because… Jesus was raised from the grave, is alive and functioning with all the authority of heaven. God sees you as a winner and a champion, someone who is the devil’s worst nightmare. He celebrates the reality that you are a miracle waiting to explode on the scene – simply because… you have surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus Christ. I’m Dr. Bob and that is a Mentoring Minute you can shout about. You can listen to my previous Mentoring Minutes at www.mentoringministry.com/blogs simply because… you can.

Love is Grace Released
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to point out to you that it is easy to recognize genuine love. A great deal of the trouble in our lives comes from failing to recognize and understand the life-changing, life-saving value of love. This value is clear to see in love’s simplest, focused definition, which is that “love is grace released.” I want to assure you that if you think you love or are loved, but the love is defined by feelings alone, or driven by selfish motivations, it is not love. It cannot meet the definition. It is just a counterfeit that will disappoint, damage and possibly even destroy you or someone else involved with it. To decide whether love is real, ask if, when released, it becomes the delivery vehicle of God’s grace. When you demonstrate unselfish love toward others, your actions release a divinely designed dose of God’s grace into their lives. Most of the time, this release of His grace depends on your willingness to provide it, even knowing it might cost you. If you hold love back, or selfishly substitute something you deliberately disguise as love, someone will miss the grace. However, as you release a demonstration of real Christian love, God’s grace lands squarely on the need it has been designed by heaven to fill… only because you cared enough to love enough. I’m Dr. Bob and that’s a Mentoring Minute. You can listen to previous Mentoring Minutes at http://www.mentoringministry.com/blog/.
