His Ways, His Grace and His Presence

I was reading Exodus 33:13-14 during my morning devotionals and came across what must be one of the most welcome prayers God has ever desired of His people. It is found, along with God’s response, in Exodus 33:13-14. In Verse 13, Moses prays, “Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.” {14} And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Moses hungered to know God, to learn His ways and find His grace. He understood that God was always willing to intervene in the midst of Moses’ desire to be obedient. Moses understood this would happen if he had a willing, obedient relationship with God. The Lord would be Moses’ guide through life and the provider of whatever he needed. In Verse 14, God responded to Moses by saying, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Today, God’s response remains the same. He will honor our desire to understand His ways and know Him personally and intimately. He will gladly provide us with the knowledge of who His is. He will show us His ways, and bless us with the personal experience of His grace and presence.
