Who Will Carry Your Bones?

I’m Dr. Bob, and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to ask you what seems like a peculiar question. Who will carry your bones? …Let me explain. Genesis, Chapter 50 tells us that just before Jacob died, he asked his sons to bury him with his fathers in the place from which they had come. He instructed them to carry his bones to the land of Canaan. There, they would bury his bones in a grave in a field originally bought as a burial place by his father Abraham. Joseph desired to honor the request of his father Jacob, who meant so much to all of them. He went to Pharaoh, and was granted permission to do so. Now, think about when you have finally departed this life and are in Paradise with Jesus. Wouldn’t it be good if, after you are gone, that somebody would honor you and take away from their memories of you, your love, your fruitfulness and the lessons of your godly influence? Why don’t you reflect on what you can mean to those who you love and care for, even after you are gone? Then, order your life so they will want to “carry your bones,” that is… carry your memory in their hearts all the way into the promises that God has for them.
