Arguments Lose to Experiences

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to talk about the futility of arguments. Let me explain. A person with an argument will always fail to change the mind of a person with an experience, and particularly someone who has experienced God’s faithfulness. Even if the argument is based on the best facts and research, it will not convince him someone who has had a strong faith experience to reject it. Faith is always able to counter facts presented by worldly arguments. Galatians 2:20 (NKJV) says, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” You can argue about many things, but you cannot argue with a person’s faith experience, especially someone who lives by faith in the Son of God. When he or she encountered God’s miracle working power, in a seemingly impossible problem or challenge, it changed their thinking forever. What they experienced was beyond any argument. The truth is, an argument could make you think, but a faith experience will make you sure. It will cause you to change your entire perspective about life and its challenges. When people confront you with an argument, just let them hear a simple testimony of your experiences with the faithfulness of God. I’m Dr. Bob and that’s my Mentoring Minute.
