Heart Scale
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to ask if you have been on the heart scale lately? Let me explain. There are many ways people will judge you and the things you do. Much of the time, their conclusions are influenced by their perceptions of your actions, or what others might say. They are very often wrong. However, God is never wrong. He is always specific and perfect in His methods. His judgment comes from looking inside. He weighs and measures your heart. Why does He do that? Well, He knows that your life, your actions, your attitudes… all are a reflection of your heart. So, He looks past the surface, past what others might use to measure you. He looks inside your heart. Have you taken measure of your heart lately? I’m Dr. Bob. Contact me at Dr.Bob@mentoringministry.com and let me know what you think.

What really is Faith?
I’m Dr. Bob, and for just a Mentoring Minute I want to clear up some things about faith. We often confuse what faith is. Faith is not faithfulness on our part. Nor is faith a commitment we make. It is not service to God and it is not participation with God. Faith is simply believing God is who he said He is. It is believing He is completely capable of doing what He promised He will do. But, you know what? Even that definition falls short of having any use whatsoever until you behave according to what you believe. Why? Because faith requires a demonstration! That is your part. Faith without works, without your demonstration of it, is dead. In James 2:17-18, we are told this: “…faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. {18} But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” I’m Dr. Bob. Contact me at Dr.Bob@mentoringministry.com and encourage me with the testimony of your faith in action.

The Issue in Not the Storm.
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute I want to give you the weather report. The clouds may seem dark. The winds of trouble may seem to be blowing, but I can predict with one hundred percent assurance, that the Son, that is… S.O.N. Of God will shine through. All it takes is for you to trust Him. Never forget that the issue is not the storm. The issue is… that no matter how stormy it may get, just keep your eyes on Jesus. If you will, the Son… S.O.N will break through and the storm will have to cease. I’m Dr. Bob. Contact me at Dr.Bob@mentoringministry.com and tell me how great it is to walk over your problems, on what Proverbs 4:18 says is “the path that grows ever brighter, as the shining sun,” safe in the arms of Jesus.

Off the Record
I am Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute I want to ask if you think anything you say is off the record? Are there times when the words you speak, or the things you write are private, and cannot be exposed for others to hear or see? Let me assure you that we live in a world where the only things that remain confidential are those you have not released with your mouth, written with your hand or typed with a keyboard. Jesus said, in Luke 12:2-3 (NKJV): “For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. {3} Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.” Discipline your mouth, and your hand to say and write what agrees with your faith in God. It will glorify God. Then, your words will take what you have said or written from the realm of the impossible to that place where they become possible. They will manifest your miracle because they ignite God’s interest and release His favor. I’m Dr. Bob. Develop and discipline your vocabulary. Then, contact me at Dr.Bob@mentoringministry.com and put your testimony on the record.

Believe without Seeing
I’m Dr. Bob, and for just a Mentoring Minute I want to ask, what do you need to see before you will believe? How often do we hear people say, “I won’t believe unless I see it with my own eyes?” In fact, that is exactly what Thomas said, when the others reported they had seen the resurrected Lord. In John 20:25 (NKJV) he said, “…Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” Then, in verse 29, we read that Jesus appeared to him and said, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” When you get a word from God, do not set conditions, and do not ask questions, and above all, refuse to give fear a place in your response. In Luke 8:50, Jesus told the official whose daughter was dying, “Do not be afraid, only believe.” It is principle for the ages and the secret to successful faith. You can be like Abram, who, when told by God to get up and go, never had to ask for a road map or a list of rest stops. He just got up and went. I’m Dr. Bob. Put feet to your faith and walk into your destiny. Contact me at Dr.Bob@mentoringministry.com and tell me how you made stepping-stones out of stumbling blocks because you walked with steps of faith.

Don’t Quit. You will Win.
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute, I want to encourage you to keep on until victory is in your hands and the devil is having his face smashed under your feet. There are three things you must always remember. First, the only way you can lose, and the only way you can find yourself under the devil’s foot is if you quit. My advice is simple and effective. Never give up. Never, never, never even think about giving up! Never let go. Never stop until you are at the top! You can make it. the second thing you must always remember is that you are well able to do all things through Christ, including overcoming every obstacle you face. Third, remember that in Christ there is only victory. I’m Dr. Bob. Contact me at Dr.Bob@mentoringministry.com and tell me what it’s going to look like from the top.

A Welcome Addiction
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute I want to speak with you about a welcome addiction. Yes, we all have addictions. I have friends who cannot get the day started without those two cups of coffee. Now, I broke that habit some years ago, but still love to get near the smell of a freshly brewed pot of coffee. I cannot eat many sweets anymore, because of a health condition, but I do get my one piece of 85% dark chocolate every day. (Sometimes I cheat and take a second one, because I am drawn to it and the addiction over-rules my discipline.) This is not a commentary on addiction to various substances, good or bad. What I want to say today is that I have developed another addiction for my mornings that I love and refuse to give up. It goes something like this. “Welcome to my morning, Holy Spirit. Welcome to my day. Welcome to my heart. Welcome to everything I say and everything I do. I crave more of You today than I had yesterday. I need more of Your voice, Your touch and Your anointing. Strengthen my addiction to Your presence, dear Holy Spirit.” …I’m Dr. Bob. Perhaps you need to get hooked on a personal addiction to Him. It will take you higher than any other habit you could have. The Bible says, He is the “High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is holy.” (That’s Isaiah 57:15.) I invite you to get in the habit. Get high on the High and Lofty One. Contact me at Dr.Bob@mentoringministry.com and tell me about your habit of giving the Holy Spirit the first thoughts of your day. There is nothing like it.

Always Be Another One
I’m Dr. Bob, and for just a mentoring minute, I want to assure you there will always be another one. You are probably asking, “Another what?” Well, there will always be another problem, test, challenge or discouraging event to face. That is just the way life is, especially when you are in the will of God and making a difference for His kingdom. Here is the good news. You can be sure that with every difficulty you face, will come another one of God’s faithful demonstrations of His loving grace to you. You can also look for and expect His grace to show up to move you forward when things are good. He is faithful, and good or bad, live in the expectation that things will get better. Yes, God is there in the midst of every situation you will face. I’m Dr. Bob. Now would be a good opportunity to draw near to God and feed your faith on His faithfulness. Contact me at Dr.Bob@mentoringministry.com and together we can rehearse the dependability and goodness of God.

Don’t Tell God…
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a mentoring minute, I want to share something that is certainly not original with me, but it is well worth repeating. Here it is. Do not tell God how big your storm is. Tell your storm how big your God is. Matthew 8:23-26 (NKJV) says, “Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. {24} And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. {25} Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” {26} But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.” After you have told your storm how big God is, why don’t you say one more thing. It has all the authority against storms that it had on a distant sea in a distant time. Go ahead, try it. Speak these three powerful words to your storm, “Peace, be still” …in Jesus’ name. (Those words are found in Mark 4:39 (NKJV).) I’m Dr. Bob. Contact me at Dr.Bob@mentoringministry.com and let me know how calm things have become.

Don’t Avoid the Water
I’m Dr. Bob and for just a mentoring minute I want to give you what could be some timely advice. Here it is. Don’t avoid the water. What am I saying? Well, let me take you back to the days of Elijah. One day a great and powerful warrior knocked on Elijah’s door. His name was Naaman and he was afflicted with leprosy. All Naaman’s might, power and authority could not help him. He came looking for a miracle. Elijah would not even see him, but sent instructions through Gahazi, his servant to go wash in the river. Naanman was furious. He wanted his miracle and he wanted it his way. Have you known anyone like that? …After a lot of angry complaining, Naaman humbled himself and obeyed. When he went into the water, God’s healing touch cleansed him of his leprosy. What am I saying? Sometimes you have to surrender your pride to obedience and let God do things His way. Perhaps your miracle needs a bit of humility to put it into motion? If you know Christ, you have already been washed in His miracle-working blood. Now go wash off your pride. You might find your miracle is just on the other side of your obedience. I’m Dr. Bob. Contact me at Dr.Bob@mentoringministry.com and let me know how your swim in obedience felt.
